Dave is the Business Applications Manager for Colt, he works in the IT department managing a whole host of things; from sales and order data, to Colt’s IT network.
He previously worked for a ship building company in Chichester as an engineering draughtsman apprentice, until he was offered a job in the Product Development department of Colt at the age of 21. That’s how he first found Colt, but since 1987 his job has changed dramatically.
After moving into the IT department 12 years after he joined, Dave found that Colt was a great environment to forge a diverse career, “what I love about Colt is that if you have something, you’ll go somewhere; it’s small enough for you to be noticed yet big enough to provide a secure environment.“ One of the reasons Dave has stayed with Colt for such a long time is the continued support given to him, “When I decided on a move to the IT department, Colt part-funded my HNC in computing, allowing me to study whilst working, showing great trust in me.”
When Dave isn’t at work or chauffeuring his 2 teenagers around, he likes to ride his 2 motorbikes. “I’m a bit of a tinkerer, if I’m not playing with the bikes then I’m fiddling with the lawnmower. Maybe that’s why I like working in IT; I like fixing things.”
