Colt Service & maintenance: Health and Safety
All Colt engineers undergo a yearly health and safety training course which consists of asbestos awareness training, working at height training, first-aid training and rescue training.
They also undergo onsite checks and random H&S checks, on-site training, new product training and tool box talks.
The working at height and rescue training are key elements for our workforce as many of the smoke ventilation systems we encounter are installed on the roof.
We normally only work on metal deck roofs and we always work with a minimum of a pair of engineers on a roof. For fragile roofs we have a different way of working.
When working on the customer’s roof, the customer needs to ensure that the fall restraint system is tested and is in date - we can get this done for you if needed.
All our engineers have all the very latest PPE equipment including full harnesses, fall restraint lanyards and fall absorbers which are regularly inspected both by the engineers and the team leaders.
For roofs where there may be roof lights or the distinct possibility of being in fall arrest, our engineers are trained in and have in their possession one-man rescue kits, to enable an engineer to lower a stricken engineer to the floor.
All works are carried out to the site specific RAMS which are issued prior to any job commencing.
All our engineers have IPAF certification along with Pasma certificates for Scaffold etc.
Colt is the UK’s most highly accredited provider of smoke control service and maintenance. We were also the first UK company to be certified to both IFC SDI 19 and SDI 05, as a competent installer and servicer of smoke control systems.
