Colt receives the RoSPA President’s Award

May 2014

Colt Group has received the RoSPA President’s Award for Occupational Health and Safety 2014. This award can only be given to organisations who have won a RoSPA Gold Award for 10 or more years consecutively. By winning these awards, Colt has consistently demonstrated evidence of a good health and safety management system.

Colt’s success can be largely be attributed to many people at Colt, both on site and at Colt’s Havant factory. In reviewing Colt’s submission, RoSPA noted excellent performance on many projects, including Canada Water, Heathrow terminals 2A and 3 and Southmead Hospital.

Mike D’Arcy , Quality, Health and Safety & Environment Manager, says:

“Health and safety is vital in our industry. Having excellent health and safety procedures in place means that we can keep ourselves at the forefront of our industry.

“At Colt, our commitment to safety starts at induction. The careful selection of personnel, tools and machinery gives our organisation an important foundation to make further advances in this area and has helped us achieve the President’s Award.

“Quality, safety and environmental factors are fully integrated with all aspects of our operation through the assignment of realistic and measurable goals at all levels. Attention to health and safety as well as our environmental policies has enabled us to progress towards our long-term objectives of maintaining high standards in these areas.”

Dating back 58 years, the RoSPA Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK, and recognises commitment to the prevention of accidents. The scheme not only looks at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
