Colt exhibiting at FIREX 2019

Jun 2019

Colt will be joining the conversation in all things fire safety at this year’s Firex International Exhibition at ExCeL, London. The event is due to take place from Tuesday 18th – Thursday 20th June and is Europe’s only dedicated event to Fire and Safety, attracting within the region of 18,000 visitors per year. Visitors are from a range of industry professions all with a common objective in mind – life safety is to be treated as a right, not a privilege.

The event facilitates the bridging of knowledge transfer between key players within the fire safety industry as well as the latest in solutions and product innovation. Neighbouring exhibitions with a focus on security, safety and health, facilities management and workplace wellbeing, only serve to compliment the aims and objectives of Firex International, forming a more integrated and holistic approach to the way in which we design.

The Colt team will be present over the course of the three-day show with their new FMB Fire Curtain compliant to British Standard 8524. Through independent review with the IFCC, the fire curtain recently gained certification to both Parts 1 and 2. Part 1 aligns itself with the specification of the product itself and an exhaustive regime of testing, and Part 2 refers to the Code of Practice which covers application, installation and maintenance. Both parts 1 and 2 of BS 8524 cover all aspects of this product from design, durability and reliability through to installation. The rigorous testing and certification to this standard ensures that the fire curtain functions correctly and does not compromise fire separation, compartmentation and most importantly life safety.

On day 1, Technical Director Ron Diaper will be delivering a technical seminar at the ASFP Pavilion as part of the Practical Workshop on Planning for Protection for new builds. He will be addressing how smoke curtains can form an integral function of the smoke control strategy. On the third and final day, Conor Logan, also Technical Director at Colt will be delivering a technical session at the Fire Protection Association stand, where he will discuss the various types of smoke control systems that can be used within buildings, the necessary regulations and design principles as well as the associated challenges.

The Colt stand can be found at FX224 as part of the ASFP Pavilion. Come and have a chat with our team.
