Firelight natural flap ventilator

Colt Firelight is a natural casement roof ventilator, suitable for natural smoke control. It has high aerodynamic, acoustic and thermal performance, providing extract ventilation for most kinds of industrial and commercial buildings. It is particularly suited for installation into glazing systems. Firelight conforms to EN 12101-2 and is CE marked. Firelight is manufactured under the ISO 9001 quality standard.

Types

  • Single flap with centre controls
  • Single flap with side controls
  • Chain drive mechanism
  • Controls hidden within control channel

Dimensions / size range

From 600 mm to 3000mm overall ventilator width in 1 mm increments.

From 600mm to 2500mm overall ventilator length in 1 mm increments.

The maximum overall ventilator size area is 5 m². This is dictated by the selected type, the chosen controls, the ventilator’s application, its geometry and its installation angle.

Base and frame

  • Thermally broken

Flap options

  • Double glazed
  • Triple glazed
  • Polycarbonate
  • Infill panel from either insulated or uninsulated aluminium

Glazing and infill panels that can be accommodated are between 10 and 50mm in thickness with a standard thickness of 32 mm, and with a maximum weight of 60 kg/m².

Wind baffles

  • No wind baffle
  • 2-sided sheet metal wind baffle
  • 2-sided sheet glass wind baffle
  • 3-sided sheet metal wind baffle
  • 3-sided sheet glass wind baffle

Materials

All components of the base and flap are manufactured from EN AW-6063 T6 aluminium alloy. The frames of both the base and flap are thermally broken.

Colours/ finishes options

  • Mill finish, standard
  • Polyester powder painted to a RAL colour, standard 70 mu
  • Anodised, standard 20 mu

Fixing options

  • Fixing flange for curb
  • Fixing flange for glazing
  • Fixing flange for roof sheeting

Fixing flanges are between 24 and 46 mm.

Installation angles are from 0° to 110° from the horizontal.

Controls options

  • Pneumatic (for smoke and day to day ventilation)
  • 24V DC linear drive electric (for smoke and day to day ventilation)
  • 24V DC chain drive electric (for smoke and day to day ventilation)
  • 230V AC electric (for day to day ventilation only)
  • Manual (for day to day ventilation only)

For both electric and pneumatic versions, double-action locking mechanisms. For pneumatic version only, failsafe open.

If used as a smoke ventilator, activation can be either by local thermal fuse which opens the unit at a pre-selected temperature, or by the ventilator responding to an external release signal.

Performance

The following performance attributes follow tests to EN 12101-2:2003 (the standard for smoke and heat exhaust ventilators) and EN 14351-1:2006 (the standard for windows and doors). The exact performance attribute will depend on the chosen size, controls, and flap type.
